Any regular reader would know that I love to insinuate that the moustache makes the man. While I do this in (partial) jest, TBWA shows us that in some cases, this is absolute fact. (The following images are their property, and were found via Flavorwire)

Mustache on a Bike

I don’t know why mustaches and bikes go so well together. You thought that mustaches were only good for giving rides? Well, they also enjoy taking rides. On bikes, that is.

This is a poster that artist Marc Johns did for Lap the Lough, a 150km (~93 mile) lap around Lough Neagh, in Northern Ireland. It was printed on the event’s t-shirts and unfortunately is not for sale on the site anymore. The event was held August 29th, 2010, the day before “Bank Holiday,” whatever the hell that is. (We’re a little late to the press on this one. But it seems to be an annual event, so you can catch it next year.)

Typestaches or Curly Braces Look Like Mustaches

In case you’re ever out in the field and need to identify all the different “typestaches” you may encounter, here is a handy Field Guide to Typestaches. Artist Tor Weeks created this poster which is essentially a collection the ever-so-fun curly brace character, in an assortment of different fonts, orientated to look like a mustache. Mine is most similar to Mr. Copperplate.

Fine Mustache Portrait Photography by Dave Mead

Photographer Dave Mead photographed the competitors of the 2009 World Beard and Mustache Competition. His prints are currently on display at Chelsea Market in New York under the title of “Magnificent Specimens.” And that they are! If you can’t make it to NY you can buy some of the prints for $350 or just view them online. (I suppose for $350 you could buy a plane ticket to New York…)

The portraits are very well composed. Besides finely waxed and sculpted facial hair, they make use of detailed costumes that are fitting to each ‘stache. Check ‘em out.

Sidewalk Graffiti Claims Fake Mustaches “Very Funny”

A friend spotted this sidewalk graffiti of a mustache on a San Francisco sidewalk. It says “Fake Mustaches (Very Funny)” and depicts a very Dali-esque mustache, with sky high handlebars. I have yet to determine if it’s ironic or not but I’ll get back to you when I do.
